Why is it so easy to bypass ‘banned’ websites in Nepal? Is there a reason?

Yaah, I know it works and with higher speed. But think about it, you are basically breaking the law by trying to bypass what is 'banned' in our country.

To start, I hope you know that whole changing DNS method to bypass 'banned' websites in Nepal. Google search if you didnt know

There are so many ways to do it right. I would argue that is not even considered a ban. Its just like when you change the phone number of your friend named 'Lakpa Lama' from 1234567890 to 0987654321 such that dialing that friend now means dialing a different number. Can I say I banned Lakpa's number? To summerize,

1: Normal DNS requests are unencrypted, unless you specifically use DNS over HTTPS. Meaning that anyone in the middle can read what websites you want to visit. This will include your ISPs even if you were using a VPN in case you did not set it up right or it was poorly written. Make sure DNS requests are also forwarded through that VPN.

2: Like we did with Lakpa above, all they did to 'ban' a website is to change its hostname to point to some other IP address rather than making sure one cannot reach that website even with an IP address. Why? Why is it even called a 'ban'?

3: Tinfoil hat time: What if they are silently logging all the time you attempt to make a connection to those websites? When they down throttle(reduce internet speed) you, they can simply tell you were trying to access contents that were banned by the government.

Either way, you are the one breaking the 'ban' imposed by the government that can have a consequence, maby not now, but surely in the future.
